Intellectual-Educational Studio

“The Program for the Intellectual and Spiritual Development of the youth”

"Intellectual-Educational Studio" was founded by the International Foundation of the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, with the financial support of the International Organization “World Vision”. As in the “Intellectual-Educational Studio-Laboratory”, founded in 2011, “The Intellectual and Spiritual Development of youth” has held very interesting lecture cycles in 2013-2014 school year.

•Christian Psychology (4 lectures)

• Old and New Testaments (4 lectures)

•Traditional Religions in Georgia (4 lectures)

•Spiritual art and symbolism (4 lectures)

•History of Georgian Churches and Monasteries (4 lectures)

There were 62 people accepted to the Laboratory after being interviewed, 51 girls and 11 boys.

The School year started in November.

Each Lecture was led by renowned scientists and spiritual leaders.

1. “The Traditions connected to the Virgin Mary in the Orthodox Church” (13 Assyrian Fathers who came to Georgia as Missionaries) Lecturer – Historian, Professor Eldar Bubulashvili. 

2. “Main Churches and Monasteries in V-X centuries” (Sacred items connected to the Virgin Mary) Lecturer – Historian, Professor Eldar Bubulashvili. 

3. “Churches and monasteries abroad in V-X centuries” (Mount Athos, Mount Sinai) Lecturer – Historian, Professor Eldar Bubulashvili. 

4. “Churches and Monasteris in XIX-XX centuries” (Cancellation of the Church’s autonomy, the condition of old Georgian Manuscripts) Lecturer – Historian, Professor Eldar Bubulashvili.

Each Lecture took 2 hours.

After every Lecture cycle, there was a discussion in order to sum up and strengthen the received information.

At the beginning of the School year, the listeners were given a book published during the 2012-2013 project - “Some aspects of the youth’s educational and spiritual development”, which also acted as a text-book and helped them with the lecture courses. The Students also received annotations, as an enclosure to the textbook, which was published this current year.

The beginning of every cycle was announced on the website of the Patriarch’s foundation.

The School year started on November 1 and ended on June 18. On the last day, there was a discussion between the project’s consultant, coordinators and students, to find out how well the youth received this project.

The students were speaking warmly about the interesting lectures and it turns out, that their interest in these subject were growing. They also spoke about other positive aspects that influenced them (getting acquainted with Classical Music, lectures at the Museums, and field trips to the historic landmarks).

During this time, the students attended 8 different classical music concerts and 1 exposition.

They also went on 2 field trips to see Historic Georgian Landmarks (Uplis Tsikhe, Bolnisi), where they were given some lectures and this experience turned out to be unforgettable for them.

On June 24, 2014, after the end of the 2013-2014 School year, 25 successful students were awarded a certificate in a festive event by the General Manager of the Foundation of the Catholicos-Patriarch of Georgia – Lasha Jvania and the representative of the International Organization “World Vision – Nana Danelia.
