As it’s known to the public, the demolition of the building of the Mestia Museum created the serious problems in connection with the safety of exhibits.

We would like to note, that because of the efforts of the commission, sent by the public, the Patriarchate of Georgia and the National Museum, it was able to carry the exhibits, stored in a non-compliant storage conditions in containers, to the two-storey building of Music School in the district of Lanchava, just off the main highway. According to experts, the building of the Music School, despite of its repair, is problematic for exhibits’ storage, especially considering seismic resistance and fire safety of the building.

Unfortunately, due to reasons not clear to us, the proposal of the Patriarchate of Georgia on the temporary transfer for of relics in the part of the bishop's residence and St. Nicholas church was rejected.

As it was stated by the representatives of the Ministry of Culture of Georgia, in the spring of 2012, stored in a Music School holy icons and other artifacts will go on deposit in the newly built Museum of Mestia.

According to experts, possession of ancient icons and other artifacts in the briskly built on a spring building of the museum will create the new problems to the treasury.

We hope that at least in this case will be considered the opinion of experts - exhibits will not be moved into the building with high humidity and a design of the new museum building will be agreed with the experts.
